'Floating, Deborah and Lucy', 2005, 40 x 40 cm
'Floating' is situated close to the surf on an empty beach in late summer. Two young women, Deborah and Lucy, are in the last stage of their friendship. They both know they have to end their relationship to be able to continue their lives as mature individuals. They would do anything to stay together and not grow up, even kill. Deborah's obsessive need to get an answer to the question whether a dead body, drowned in the sea, would wash ashore onto the beach, is the core around which the story unfolds. Their destructive adolescent friendship leads them into a deadly experiment after which Lucy understands she can only start a new life if she walks away from the manipulating powers of Deborah.
